Big donation for Robbie Foundation
PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) – Six special needs children in the Portland area now have iPads and an adaptive bike to work with after a big donation event Saturday morning. The Robbie Foundation hosted the presentation at the East Pointe Christian Church. Representatives say the goal of the foundation is to improve the quality of life for children with special needs. 95% of the money raised for the foundation goes directly to services, treatment and adaptive equipment that isn’t covered by insurance. Saturday’s recipients were selected after an application process and organizers say they are grateful. “The feedback that we are getting, and from a personal experience, they are very significant,” exlpains Co-Founder Lynn Gierie, “The iPad, for instance, really works on the social skills for these children with social and developmental disabilities.” Recipients were selected based on recommendations from medical professionals, teachers and therapists.
