Finding Joy in the Little Things
These are certainly times of reflection for many of us. In the midst of a pandemic as well as the nation feeling divided with the upcoming election we can find ourselves overly stressed and in a state of turmoil. We can easily become obsessed with the craziness of so many things going on around us.
We can use some of this time for reflecting. Take a moment to be still. One of the big ways that we find joy, is to take a moment to actually notice the small things. Stop. Take a look around you. What do you see? What do you smell? What do you feel? Is there something that makes you feel peaceful? For me it’s sunlight shining in a window where I spend my “chair time”. It’s seeing the squirrels play in the trees or simply the innocence of nature. Even if your thoughts seem absurd and foolish to you, it can be healthy and comforting to let yourself see the world through the eyes of a child.
Where is your happy place? Is your schedule too busy to find moments of stillness during your day? How do you find joy?
