The Robbie Foundation, based in Scarborough, has partnered with Gorham Savings Bank to give away two weekends of relaxation and pampering to Maine parents of children with special needs.
The lucky parents were selected after being nominated by family members or friends who submitted a 500-word essay on why the parents deserved a weekend of relaxation.
The first winner is Robin Watts, a single mother of three from Saco. Her 8-year-old son Andrew suffers from epilepsy and cerebral palsy. The condition was caused after Andrew contracted meningitis as a baby.
On Saturday, Aug. 1, Watts and a guest will enjoy a day of relaxation and pampering at The Black Point Inn at Prouts Neck in Scarborough.
The foundation will choose another set of parents later this year. To nominate a parent, go to www.robbiefoundation.com.
